Three researchers respond: Are log homes proven to be healthier than other houses?
We asked researchers and specialists why log homes are perceived as healthy. Senior Scientist Tuomo Ojanen from VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland explains how wooden surfaces even out indoor air humidity in a log home. Marjut Wallenius, Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Tampere University, says that wood, which is kind to all the senses, has been proven to reduce stress.
Tiina Vainio-Kaila, Research Scientist at VTT, describes how the natural extractives in wood eliminate pathogens on wooden surfaces. Honka Product Director Eino Hekali discusses the importance of material choices for clean and healthy indoor air.
